Another hat done!

Here is one more hat. It's stockinette with a border of blanket moss stitch. It is a Christmas gift...of course. This hat should keep my friend's ears really warm.

I finished this hat several days ago and finally got around to getting a picture. This is my second hat for this wonderful KAL!

I made the hat longer because I wanted to keep this thing from popping off my rather large head!

I can't believe it - a hat trick

Finished 2 hats today. One was a joy to knit, one sucked my soul right out my fingertips. (Okay, not really).

Camo Hat #1

Red Heart ACKrylic. For one of DH's nephews. I have to make another one, and one of the hats (don't remember which) will have earflaps (I have to check w/ SIL again).


Pumkin Orange Hat

Mission Falls Superwash for BIL. Lovely, squishy wool. My first time using it, and just in time, 'cuz I guess it's not going to be around much longer. Really nice yarn. Recommended.

Both hats: Kim's Hat from Last Minute Knitted Gifts, with modifications for gauge and size, etc.

Hermione Hat Trick

I frogged my original Hermione because it was too large and knit this one up on smaller needles:



I used the recommended Cascade 220 but I might use some stash Wool-Ease (*wink* to Laura) for the next one. The yarns are very similar. The pattern is cheap and very clearly written. I recommend it.

Can I get a Hat Trick, y'all? :)

Hat number 7

I got this done tonight I changed my mind about the Manos hat for my niece. It didn't really match the scarf that I made her so I used this variegated cotton that I bought off ebay and I found my size 8 12" addis! I have been searching for them for a long time! It came out pretty good same old pattern and I only have to do this pattern 2 more times!!

Hat #5 - same yarn, same pattern....yada, yada, yada. I do like this one the best. The colors are really pretty. Only 1 more like this to go, then I can try something new!

Santa's Little Helper

a.k.a. Hat Number 4! My model is not feeling well today, so this is the best shot I could get!
I used the same old Easy Roll Brim pattern.....I can now knit this pattern in my sleep! I couldn't get to the store to buy a pom pom maker, so I did the old cardboard circle trick, and I think it turned out pretty good.

Thank you for all your nice comments on hats 1 through 3! This KAL is really inspiring me to get all my hats done! (2 more to go for Noey's friends, and 1 for my dad)

and here's a close up. I used Caron Simply Soft Seasons which has a metallic thread running through it. Very pretty and sparkly!

Hat trick 2

I made yet another hat tonight! This one is for my niece Amanda. I used Manos Del Uruguay. Simple garter stitch hat . I like the way the hat turned out. The yarn is lovely to work with. Now I only have 4 more hats to go! Wish me luck!

Finally! The blackout hat is done

It's not the blackout hat anymore. No story behind it at all, except that it's for ME (which is rare) and I can't wait to wear it.



Forgive the model. She took the "day off" thing really seriously and didn't shower or put on make up (as if she does it any other day). She mostly spent the day relaxing and knitting, watching the "War of the Worlds" tv show w/ her hub. There was an excursion to the LYS to get enough yarn to make the XL hat (and - woot! - all the yarn was 20% off...what a nice surprise).

Yes, the first hat is done!

I really enjoyed this pattern, very simple and quick. I plan on altering it to make a very Canadian style hat. More to come on that later, for now lets have a look at that hat!

Hat Trick #2!

Thanksgiving knitting!

Here is one I'm naming "Bobble Thing":



It's one strand of Zara and one strand of unknown-origin alpaca from my stash.



For this one, I tried to copy the hat in the banner, but in Rowan Yorkshire Tweed Chunky:

I couldn't put my needles down

I couldn't stop myself tonight I made another hat.. I used Noro Kureyon #102 I love the color of this yarn this is the first time I have used it and I love it. It is a simple garter stitch nothing fancy. I think I might keep this one for myself :)

Another day another hat!

I got another hat done this one is for son #3. I like they way it came out. It worked up very fast. I took him to my lys last week to pick out his yarn can you tell he loves green? I used Cascade 220. I probally could have done a few more rounds of ribbing, but I like it and what is most important is that he loves it. It has not come off his head yet!

Amazing!

Wow, I just looked few the past posts and all these hats rock! I have the earflaps done on my kittyvill hat and just have to knit the ears. I will post a picture later tonight of the finished hat before it goes to its righful owner. Can't wait to move on to hat #2.

I can finally post!!!!

I joined this KAL early on. I've been reading each and every post. I didn't have the yarn I needed to start my own hats. Then when I had the yarn, I didn't have the needles I needed. Finally I have yarn, and I have needles, and I have my first ever hat all done!!! Woo hoo. (Excuse the small stuffed bear as my model. There were no baby heads near by.)

Other people have posted this hat already, and I got inspired to knit it as my very first. It's the Umbilical Cord Hat from Stitch 'n Bitch. I knit mine in DB Baby Cashmerino, a very soft yarn that is very easy to knit with. It's also machine washable, which is a must for baby stuff. I double tied my "umbilical cord" to give it more of a knot look and less of a cord look. This is my first gift to my best friend's second child (who I am sure is a girl, but used yellow yarn just in case).

Up next, my first attempt at an adult hat, for my DH.

Hat Trick!

The Girl Talk hats are done. The purple one has been completed for a few months, but I was procrastinating on the second. Not sure why--they're pretty quick. Guess other projects just got in the way. :) These are gifts for two little friends of ours (7- & 10-years-old). I'm going to give them unfelted (mostly to see the looks on their faces) so we can felt them together and get a good custom fit. There are also fun fur scarves to match. Two gifts done! Check! Hat Trick!!

I got my third hat done tonight for son #2! It is made from Red Heart camouflage yarn I don't like acrylic yarn but for an 11 year old it is perfect! I started hat #4 tonight and should be done tomorrow!

Hey, Hey, Hey...It's Dumb Donald!

Actually, it's Flowers on a Grave unfulled. It is knit with Lion Wool in Rose. I'm making my flowers in Lion Wool in Sunset. The hat has now been fulled, and is drying on Miss Wiggy. It's way cute.

Third hat done (ooh, a hat trick!)

I've been rather quiet, but most everyone is getting hats for xmas this year.
Niece 1 - finished end of Oct/beg of Nov. it's the tam/beret in Kid's Knitted Hats - made with LB Wool-Ease
Niece 2 - finished mid-November. the Candy Dots pattern from the same book. also made with LB Wool-Ease
Nephew - a basic hat from the Handy Book of Patterns with single rib edge and a pompom. made in Regia Ringel.
My sister - her hat will be made from orange & black Paton's Divine. pattern not chosen yet
Brother-in-Law - his is in progress. pattern is Tychus - I'm attempting the 4-color version like shown in the last picture there (in almost the same colors.)

mom and dad will probably also be getting hats, though I haven't thought much about them yet. and I'm thinking I'll end up making one for myself as well. and probably some more for one of the LYS that collects donations for warm things.

Thanksgiving Hat Trick!

Here's my third hat of the knitalong. I made this one using very old yarn in my stash--about 20 years old, I'm pretty sure! This one will be donated to CompassionKnit. Happy Thanksgiving, fellow hat knitters!

Hat Trick

3 hats complete and another one well on its way.

These first two are Christmas presents for my cousins made in University of Texas colors. They are made in Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran. I had never used this yarn before, but I LOVE it! It feels nice - mostly wool so nice and warm and stretchy, but the silk in it just gives it a little extra sheen.

The last hat is Hatmione for one of my friends for Christmas. I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran - I think this may be my all time favorite yarn as it is just so buttery soft and the cables pop really well. I enjoyed knitting this one tremendously - a very well written pattern!

It's A Hat Trick!

This is the Cold Weather Hat from the 96 knitlist. I knit it with Joann's Sensations Licorice in Black.

This is Roxanne. A Berroco Hip Hop Pattern knit with Joann's Sensations "Marvel" in Copper Multi. It's a 100% wool, thick and thin, which made the scallops around the hat. It is smaller than it should be, more like a beanie. I'm going to use the same yarn and knit up the Scallop Brim Instant Hat from Just One More Row.

i finally made a hat!

In about three hours I finally made myself a new hat. It's a silly one--to insert some frivolity into my life. I call it Cirque.

That's my boyfriend modeling it; I look horrid in hats, even from the back. The hat is so much fun, so warm, and so so easy to make.

Here is my little cutie modeling her hat. She even put lipstick on for the occasion. LOL! She is my girly girl. I am making two of these One for each of my daughters. I thought that I would add a little holly to the icord top for some festive fun.

It's the Candy Cane Hat from Handknit Holidays. I love the book. I want to make nearly everything in it. I used Bernat Softie because we need an extra warm hat here in Erie, PA.

I love seeing all the hats that everyone is making. I can't wait until after Christmas to start some just for me.

This is one of the hats that I finally finished yesterday. The pattern is Lola from Tante Sophie Avait un Chien. It is knit with Berroco Hip Hop. I finished another, but am having a hard time posting photos with Blogger. I am working on my 3rd and should finish it today.

I finished my third hat! It's the same old itchy, scratchy acrylic yarn and the same old pattern (I'm getting really bored with both the pattern and the yarn), but since these are all for Noey's friends I let her choose the yarn. I have two more to go, and then I will start on a different pattern with a different yarn!

Hi everybody. I don't have any new hats to show. I just wanted to check in and say what great hats everyone is making. It's so much fun to see the new pictures every day. I've done two and am planning to make a third to send to Compassion Knit later this week. Happy knitting!

Hat Trick!

Slap one of those hat trick babies by my name, Laura and Amanda! After finishing two kids' hats, I made this one just for me from leftover Manos yarn (red) and Takhi Donegal Tweed:



Just your basic roll-brim pattern. I didn't have any fair isle motifs on hand, so I just alternated colors in the middle all haphazardly. Ater finishing it this afternoon, I've put it on my head and have been wearing it ever since, like a big dork.

This was supposed to be the basic cable hat for my friend, but it ended up way too small. This is how it looks on an adult. Yarmulke anyone?

The Girl's Hat

Now, a question: The Man wants a felted hat. He wants it to look like a normal hat (ribbed bottom), so no roll up brim. To save my life I can't find one that I think will work. I've searched the free patterns and googled my little heart out. I'm down to two choices:
1. Use the same basic pattern that I've been using for all the other hats, but with a larger needle size.
2. Use the same needle size but cast on more stitches (use the Handy Book of Patterns).

The kicker is that I don't want to use bulky yarn or double my yarn, as I only have one ball of each color (he wants stripes), and I don't want to buy any more DPNs. I have 7, 8 and 10 1/2.

I'd welcome any advice y'all can give. I really want to get this done and crossed off the gift list. Thanks so much!

Dessert anyone?

Not on my Christmas to do list, but certainly should have been, was a cute hat and mitten set for our favorite toddler, Isabella. I made the cupcake hat, which I know you have seen; It is so darn cute, I had to give it a whirl. I changed the pattern somewhat: using my Lamb’s Pride stash for the cake and frosting, and some leftover fantasy yarn made for some sprinkles. The original pattern calls for a red “cherry” on top, but I opted for a knotted-eye-cord of frosting. The mittens will soon follow and will be modeled after the hat--how cute will Isabella be?
